About Big Tiny Movers Taster (CSC168)

Join us for an exciting movement class designed for toddlers aged 18 months to 4 years and their parents or carers!

What will you learn on this course?

This unique program uses contemporary dance and contact improvisation to create a shared language between adults and their little ones. Unlike a traditional dance class, we will move instinctively using the children as our inspiration.

In our session, we’ll melt with the floor, jump in the air, roll over each other, and have lots of fun! We’ll let go of fixed structures through contact improvisation and learn to listen, breathe, and make decisions together. Participants will explore new possibilities of what their bodies can do and become by playing with forces like momentum, inertia, friction, and gravity.

The class aims to equally distribute choices between the parents or carers and the children, treating each other as equals. By participating in this class, you and your child will not only have fun but also experience the many benefits of contact improvisation. This dance form, based on touch and relational interaction, involves a dialogue of sensations and sensory exploration. It facilitates a deeper connection and highlights the differences between bodies moving together.

Cristina is an independent choreographer, performer and contemporary dance teacher living between Germany and the United Kingdom.
