About Family Improv Theatre (CSC270)

Do you enjoy playing games and the challenge of being creative as a family? Would you like to meet and mix with other families who enjoy the same? Are you interested in gaining new skills and increasing your confidence? Then this is the course for you!

What will you learn on this course?

Discover the joy, freedom, and challenge of improv.

Working together as a family you will learn to be more creative and playful in this low-pressure, high-enjoyment class that cultivates a fun, friendly and supportive environment. You’ll learn the core skills of improvisation whilst improving confidence, public speaking and teamwork, whilst having loads of fun!

Improv is about working together as a team with other improvisers to spontaneously create group stories, scenes & sketches. There’s no such thing as failure in improv!

This course is taught by Lucy Poulson, a Birmingham based theatre practitioner and improvisor with extensive experience working with young people and their families on scripted and non-scripted drama.

Expect lots of games, movement and most of all, laughs!

Who is this course for?

This one-day workshop is for young people age 8-14 years old and their parent or guardian. All will be invited to participate as equals!

The course is accessible for people of all abilities. Parents and guardians work alongside their children and all classes are planned to meet the specific needs of the group. The room is wheelchair accessible.

Age ranges are set carefully to consider key age developments, materials being used, and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.

Do you need to bring anything?

There is a one-hour break for lunch, not provided.

A water bottle for during the class would also be great and please wear clothes and shoes which are comfortable for moving around in
