About From Art to Stitch (TE110 Autumn)
In this practical, hands-on course, you will learn how to create interesting textile textures and discover how to incorporate stitched mixed media to make your textile art work unique.
What will you learn on this course?
You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of materials – including paper, plastic, fabric, wool, threads, metal, found objects, and much more. You’ll learn how to transform these materials through various forms of manipulation, such as folding, wrapping, weaving, layering, cutting, scrunching, and painting.
This is a fun, relaxed course that encourages you to explore and play with mixed media materials and techniques, helping you gain the confidence to develop your ideas further. You’ll deepen your approach to successful textile design and making, while also developing your own visual language and personal style.
Throughout the course, your Artist Tutor will provide inspiration and ideas, demonstrating a variety of techniques supported by examples. You’ll take part in practical exercises to learn and apply these techniques, with one-to-one guidance and support from the tutor.
Each lesson builds on the last, allowing you to gradually develop new skills and methods step by step.
