About Fundamentals of Mosaic Art (ASC141)

Join Jacqui for a creative and inspiring four-week journey to deepen your mosaic practice.

What will you learn on this course?

Over the first three weeks, you’ll learn how to cut and shape tiles with precision, ensuring smooth placement and flow within your designs. We’ll explore andamento - the guiding rhythm or “movement” within mosaic art - and how the careful arrangement of tesserae (tiles) can bring life and direction to a piece. Through guided exercises and structured course notes, you’ll experiment with different techniques, tools, and materials, gaining both confidence and skill as you go.

In the final week, you’ll bring everything together to create your own unique mosaic artwork to take home - a personal piece that reflects your new understanding of mosaic composition and style.  You will be provided with a variety of template designs which will allow you to put into practice the techniques that you've acquired or you can create your own design.  Base size is 200mm x 200mm.

Throughout the course, you’ll use a range of professional cutting tools and receive plenty of one-to-one guidance in a friendly, relaxed setting.

A wonderful opportunity to develop your creative confidence, refine your techniques, and discover the timeless beauty of mosaic art - one tile at a time.

Your mosaics need to be grouted and will need 24 hours to dry. Hopefully this will be completed in class but could be finished at home or left in our secure cages to dry and collect at a later date.
