About Make a Printed Zine Camp (CSC271)
Combine printmaking and zine creating in this creative two-day workshop.
What will you learn on this course?
Learn to use drawing, collage and print to produce a handmade zine.
Taking inspiration from the tradition of self-published fanzines, you will learn how to create your own handmade magazine or book with theme of your choosing. We will examine the history of zine culture and learn how they have been used in art and activism.
Explore range of hands-on, practical design and layout techniques that will help to share what it is you want to say. Learn to incorporate a mix of drawing and collage in your zines and produce some monoprints from your work.
By the end of the workshop you will have made your very own zine to take home, as well as a collection of prints and sketches.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for young people aged 12 to 17 years. It is open to all ability levels and does not require any previous experience. We provide a learning support worker and all our staff are DBS checked. Parents are not expected to accompany young people on the course.
The course is accessible for young people of all abilities who can participate in practical art and craft activities. A parent or carer may attend to assist the child if required; carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending to provide support. Please contact us to discuss your specific access needs. The room is wheelchair accessible.
Age ranges are set carefully to consider key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.
Do you need to bring anything?
All materials and equipment are provided. It would be helpful if participants came with some ideas of topics for their zines e.g. films, games, sports etc.
Please note that lunch is not provided. Participants will need to bring their own lunch to eat on a supervised one-hour break.

There are no additional costs for this course.
