About Make Your Own Mystery Film (CSC188)

Step into the world of detectives and plot twists as you create your own short mystery film!

What will you learn on this course?

On this three-day camp, young people will learn about mystery movie storytelling, exploring twists and turns from classic whodunnits to imaginative, high-concept takes on the genre. Think of iconic mysteries like Knives Out, Sherlock or Enola Holmes.

Working as a group, participants will take part in writing, acting and filming to create their short mystery film, using MAC and the surrounding area as a backdrop.

The course will cover:
•    What makes a good mystery film
•    How to generate ideas, storyboards and scripts
•    Use camera and sound equipment to film the story you have created
•    The basics of video editing

Taught in our dedicated Media Studio, the experienced tutor will guide the group through the entire process, from initial ideas to final screening. You will learn the basics of filmmaking and editing using Da Vinci Resolve, a free software programme that can be downloaded on computers, so you can continue making films after finishing the workshop.

Participants will be sent their film following completion of the course.
