About Song Fishing - A Songwriting Workshop (ASC115)

Focus on generating new material through creative, playful activities on this one-day short course.

What will you learn on this course?

Dan Whitehouse’s ’Song Fishing' workshop is an immersive experience - all about generating raw material, writing new songs, casting our net wide for fresh ideas, titles, compelling first lines and song sketches.

Working by ear, and improvisation, not music theory-based, the method has been cited as a remedy for writer’s block by previous workshop attendees.

Dan will be encouraging you to remove the magnifying glass and allow yourself to step out of your own way and engage with a series of games, designed to connect with your inner child and focus on the activities of writing as a playful experience, a kind of performance in itself.

Who is this course for?

This course is open to adults 18+. No prior experience needed.

At the heart of MAC is a focus on accessibility and inclusion. Please contact us to discuss your specific access needs. You do need dexterity in your hands to play the guitar. The room is wheelchair accessible. A personal assistant or companion must book a complimentary ticket if attending to provide support.
