About Stop Motion Animation Camp (CSC184)
Explore the exciting world of stop motion animation as you make a character with plasticine and bring them to life on film!
What will you learn on this course?
On this 2-day course, you will learn all about stop motion, a style of animation famous from films like Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Memoir of a Snail. Working with an award-winning animator, you will create your own character using plasticine modelling clay, then make them move on film.
The course will cover:
- The art of animation including zoetropes and flicks
- How to generate ideas, create storyboards and make characters with modelling clay
- Animate and film the characters you create
- Use recycled materials to create a 3D environment for a scene
Taught in our dedicated Media Studio, the experienced tutor will guide the group through the entire process, from initial ideas to final screening. You will learn the basics of animation using Stop Motion Studio, a free software programme that can be downloaded on phones and tablets, so you can continue making films after finishing the workshop.
On completion of this course you will have learnt new stop motion animation and filmmaking techniques, and receive a finished film scene featuring your character.
