Alex Jolliffe
Alex Jolliffe is a 2D Animation Specialist with over a decade of industry experience, having worked with Glen Keane, Aardman Animations, BBC, Channel 4, and the British Council. From leading teams at Mackinnon and Saunders to building rigs for international productions, his career has been defined by solving creative problems and bringing characters to life. But what truly drives him is sharing that knowledge. He believes short courses are powerful catalysts for growth, offering a supportive space where students can build confidence, try new things, and discover what they're capable of.
At Midlands Arts Centre, Alex teaches the fundamentals of animation and comic book making. Think squash and stretch, timing, character design, storytelling, and the joy of seeing a drawing move or speak on the page. His teaching style is practical, playful, and technical, breaking down creative skills into friendly, achievable steps so students of all levels can join in. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, he'll help you find your creative voice, one frame or panel at a time.
