Tom Godwin is a visual artist based in Coventry, he graduated Coventry University in 2014 with a BA Hons in Fine Art. Tom has exhibited across the midlands including exhibitions at RBSA Gallery Birmingham and the Herbert Museum & Art Gallery Coventry.

Tom’s practice focuses on using experimental photography and videography to create surreal, visually striking views of the future that are open to interpretation from the viewer. Visual storytelling is very important to Tom’s practice. As someone with dyslexia he finds it easier to communicate and learn visually, images offer a more direct and intuitive way to express ideas and concepts and this is something he incorporates into his work. Tom’s artistic practice is heavily inspired by all thing’s science fiction.

Tom is passionate about analogue photography and its survival, he uses experimental photography to introduce people to the vast, creative possibilities of photography. Sustainability in photography is something that is very important to Tom’s practice and this is something he instils in his workshops, showing participants how to create sustainable, home-made darkroom developers.
