Unaiza Karim is an award-winning artist and qualified teacher. She holds a Masters degree in Visual, Islamic and Traditional Arts from the Prince’s School of Traditional Art, London and specialises in the Art of Illumination.

In her work as an Islamic Arts educator, Unaiza has developed courses and curriculum for a wide range of audiences including grass roots community organisations, schools, universities and museums in the UK and abroad including the Prince’s School London, The Jameel Gallery of Islamic Art at the V&A, The Royal Ontario Museum and The Museum of Islamic Art in Toronto where she has delivered a number of specialised courses in Manuscript illumination. As an experienced artist and educator she is continually engaged in delivering innovative programmes, workshops and courses tailored to meet the needs of individuals and groups interested in developing artistically.

Alongside offering workshops and more specialised courses for homeschooled children, young adults, women and the wider community, Unaiza has creating a range of art kits to support children and adults who want to deepen their connection with the arts of Islam and create art inspired by traditionally trained artisans from across the Muslim world.

Unaiza is continually engaged in creating art and has exhibited her work widely. Her most recent commission has been for a stamp design with Canada Post which launched last year.

Having spent more than ten years in North America, Unaiza has recently returned to the UK and is busy creating and teaching Art while settling back into life here with her two ever creative daughters and writerly husband.
