About Hardeep Pandhal: Saag and Fish Fingers
Pandhal creates mythical narratives that explore the complexities of contemporary culture. Central to the exhibition is a fictional world populated by recurring figurative forms and expressive gestures.
Drawing on video games, comics, cultural theory and his personal memories, this narrative takes form across large paintings and drawings. The show features a new installation, co-commissioned with Outer Spaces, which brings together freestanding wooden cut-outs and a new sound work. In these, the whimsical and serious compete for attention, whilst exploring the transformative forces of cultural assimilation.
Saag and Fish Fingers is Hardeep Pandhal’s major mid-career exhibition, presented in his hometown of Birmingham.
