Help Us Fight Holiday Inequality! Support Next Year’s Free Family Art Trail

For thousands of children in Birmingham, the summer holidays can be the hardest time of year.

Birmingham has one of the highest rates of child poverty in the UK – with 37% of children growing up below the poverty line. That’s nearly 3 in every 10 children facing real barriers to education, play, and creativity when school is out.

Families living in poverty are 3 times more likely to miss out on cultural experiences – and during the long summer break, this gap only widens. That often means weeks without learning, play or connection – just isolation, boredom, and lost potential.

We want to change that.

At MAC, we believe that every child deserves access to creativity, culture, and joy, not just those who can afford it.

That’s why we’re already planning next year’s free summer art trail, building on the success of Amazing ArtBoxes, which will welcome over 100,000 visitors. We’ll commission brilliant artists and makers to transform our spaces into vibrant, interactive worlds filled with colour, sound, movement, and magic – sparking imagination, laughter, and learning.

But we can’t do it without your help.

Please give what you can afford to support this vital work. Every donation, large or small, helps us reach more families and bring more creativity to those who need it most.

And if you’re able to give £100 or more, you’ll become one of our Art Trail Champions. As a thank you, up to 2names/company logo will be proudly displayed as part of next year’s exhibition – celebrating your generosity and belief in free, accessible art for all.

Help us fight inequality, loneliness and lost learning next summer. Donate today and give children across Birmingham a summer they’ll never forget.

Our donors mean the world to us, so if you would like to discuss a gift to MAC, please do not hesitate to contact Sally Pennington, Director of Development, at Supporters@macbirmingham.com.
