Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) and Eversheds Sutherland are pleased to announce a three-year partnership, which renews the global lawyers’ corporate sponsorship for major exhibitions and environmental community activities at the arts charity.

Since 2021, Eversheds Sutherland has played an integral role in helping MAC to rebuild and reimagine their relationship with their audiences in the West Midlands. The continued partnership is underpinned by shared organisational values that place people, community and environment at the heart.

To date, with the support of Eversheds Sutherland, MAC has offered free opportunities to over 15,000 residents, worked with 1,514 artists and creatives, curated 32 exhibitions, and connected with over 412,000 children and young people through learning, participation and community engagement programmes.

Deborah Kermode, CEO and Artistic Director at Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), says: “The vital investment and expertise from colleagues at Eversheds Sutherland has allowed us to make significant improvements to our venue and programme community-focused, inclusive events. Their ongoing support is crucial in helping the charity to connect with more local people, whatever their circumstances. We share a commitment to champion greener ways of living to reduce our environmental impact, and look forward to offering more high-quality events.”

Owen Dutton, Legal Director, Real Estate, Eversheds Sutherland and MAC Board Member and Vice-Chair, said: “Growing up in Birmingham, for me MAC has always been a vital part of Birmingham’s cultural landscape, a place of social cohesion, where communities come together to enjoy and explore the arts and culture. I am delighted Eversheds Sutherland will continue our corporate sponsorship for MAC, supporting fantastic sustainable initiatives and artistic projects that truly make an impact for children, young people, and families across the region. It also underpins our firm’s purpose of helping our clients, our people and our communities to thrive.”

This year, Eversheds Sutherland will be the headline sponsor for a number of MAC’s major exhibitions and activities, focused on promoting sustainability and wellbeing through creative events. Their support will play a key role for the seminal exhibition Acts of Creation: On Art & Motherhood, which explores the diverse experiences of motherhood through over 100 artworks, and Waste Age, a major exhibition capturing the impact of waste across the globe and innovative design to combat this.

Following on from their sponsorship in 2023, Eversheds Sutherland will once again support MAC’s Big Green Weekender, an annual family festival celebrating local action for our shared planet, promoting the ways in which people can collectively work together for a greener future. Planned for autumn 2025, Eversheds Sutherland will sponsor MAC’s Sari exhibition, celebrating the history of this garment, a with a series of accessible and inclusive hands-on workshops that explore heritage, history, and story-telling through textiles and designs.

Over the years, Eversheds Sutherland has worked on transformational capital projects at MAC, pro bono, bringing their remarkable expertise and experience to exciting projects such as the refurbishment of MAC’s music rooms into state-of-the-art, accessible music studios and rehearsal rooms.

The three-year partnership will continue to make a positive impact on the people of Birmingham, showcasing Eversheds Sutherland’s commitment to investing in inclusive, sustainable and enriching initiatives for communities.
