Our code of conduct

No prejudices, no excuses

We are committed to ensuring that MAC is a safe, inclusive and respectful place. We value kindness, empathy and compassion and we believe everyone counts.

MAC stands for zero tolerance of ableism, ageism, homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia and prejudice based on ability, appearance, asylum status, class, ethnicity, gender, gender presentation, nationality or religion.

Our staff, artists and visitors are important to us and we take instances of discrimination or harassment extremely seriously.

We will take immediate action if our Code of Conduct is not fully supported. Any use of inappropriate language and/or behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the building.

Underpinning principles:

Everyone at MAC deserves to be treated with respect.

Everyone is expected to work with MAC to provide a supportive environment that secures the well-being and very best experiences for users of MAC.

This includes taking care of MAC property and facilities.

Everyone is expected to work with MAC to consider the safety of its users.

The use of illegal substances will not be tolerated. Excessive consumption of alcohol is not acceptable.

MAC has a zero tolerance policy towards bullying and harassment, including sexual harassment.

If you witness or experience harassment or any other unsafe situations, you should report it immediate to the on-site Duty Manager.

You have the right to be listened to and to be taken seriously.

MAC has the right to withdraw services and/or exclude persons from the building if the Code of Conduct is not adhered to.

MAC staff are subject to a Code of Conduct Policy which sets out our expectations regarding behaviour of all staff in the course of their duties and towards their colleagues and customers, a copy of this policy and its associated policies are available on request.
