Black and white anime image of a Japanese soldier wearing binoculars arouns his neck, peering out of a door on the side of an airplane.

About Birmingham Anime Film Festival: Momotaro - Sacred Sailors

Presumed lost until the mid-’80s, Momotaro has been freshly restored from the original 35mm negatives, looking not a day older than when it screened in 1945.

Momotaro remains – propagandistic material notwithstanding – a timeless achievement in worldwide animation that is nothing less than the birth of anime as we know it. A very rare chance to see a lost masterpiece on the big screen.
