A younger woman (Julie Christie) with tousled blonde hair and blue eyes, dressed in a dark Victorian-era cloak with a lace collar, stands against a moss-covered tree in a woodland setting. The image has a warm, vintage film quality.

About Far From The Madding Crowd

Julie Christie is Bathsheba, a headstrong young woman who inherits a large farm in Dorset and becomes romantically involved with three men, including Terence Stamp’s dashing sergeant.

Lavishly photographed by Nic Roeg, this stunning restoration reveals new depths to one of Britain’s most beautifully shot period films.

Screening as part of the UK wide John Schlesinger retrospective The Consummate Professional.

Please note that instead of adverts and trailers, this screening will be preceded by Schlesinger’s 1956 short Sunday In The Park (14 mins), a charming snapshot of a lazy summer's day in Hyde Park.
