About Flatpack 2025: Schmoedipus

Flatpack 2025

The eclectic pop-up film festival returns to MAC.

A rare glimpse into Tim Curry's pre-Rocky Horror career demonstrates his versatility as an actor in this exceptional Play for Today which aired in 1974.

Penned by the inimitable Dennis Potter, the film tells the story of a son given away at birth, who tracks down his mother (superbly played by Anna Cropper) and confronts her in a heated and sexually tense exchange. Curry delivers a raw and compelling performance in this potent exploration of taboo subjects. Layer in a touch of the otherworldly, alongside a Bob Hoskins cameo, and you've got an underseen TV gem. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore.
