Two people walking together on what appears to be a covered shopping street or pedestrian walkway. There's a younger man in a dark navy hoodie with his arm around an older woman who's wearing glasses, a floral patterned sweater, and a bright pink/magenta jacket. Both are smiling warmly and appear to be enjoying each other's company. The man is carrying what looks like a white shopping bag. The setting appears to be a modern shopping area with glass storefronts visible in the background.

About Film Stories presents I Swear + Q&A

Funny, heartfelt and emphatically moving, I Swear dramatises the true story of Tourette syndrome campaigner John Davidson and his quest to live normally in a world that insisted on calling him different.

Diagnosed aged 15, John’s Tourette’s made him the target of huge misunderstanding in 1980s Britain, and he faced hostility, bullying and occasionally outright violence for much of his youth. Aged 16, he was the subject of BBC TV documentary John’s Not Mad and subsequently became one of the UK’s most passionate advocates for greater awareness and acceptance of Tourette’s.

Written and directed by Kirk Jones (Waking Ned, Nanny McPhee) and featuring a deeply committed performance from Robert Aramayo as John alongside supporting turns from Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson and Peter Mullan, I Swear promises a powerful look at an astonishing life.

The screening will be followed by a live onstage Q&A with director Kirk Jones. Hosted by Film Stories editor Simon Brew.
