About Lemmings Part 1: Arcadia
The first of Michael Haneke’s significant early television series depicts the generational gap between self-destructive 1950s teenagers and their parents. In Arcadia, we encounter a group of teenagers staring down adulthood with a rebellious gaze and an underlying streak of violence, all cloaked in the oppressive weight of their parents’ expectations.
It is a powerful warning of the dangers inherent in mindless obedience and foreshadows the later brilliance of Haneke’s The White Ribbon.
