A young Black man wearing a dark blue shirt and black trousers kneels down in some grass, his left arm resting on his left knee. He looks down at the ground in solemn prayer.

About Maona Art presents Disco Afrika

Director Luck Razanajaona’s first feature, Disco Afrika tells the tale of Kwame (Parista Sambo), a 20-year-old sapphire miner that is forced to return home after an unforeseen tragedy. Once home, he must contend with the undeniable corruption of his country, his loyalty to those he cares for, and his grief, while doing his best to balance it all.

With beautiful imagery and its powerful music, we are given a taste of what revolution was like in 1970s Madagascar and what it could be today.
