A young man sleeps in a bed, covered in a red sheet. An older lady in a pink dressing gown lies next to him, her hand on his shoulder.

About Misericordia

Alain Guiraudie’s films, including Stranger by the Lake, may be wildly diverse, but always show his flair for witty provocation and a fascination with the untamable nature of desire.

Here, a young loner returns to his village, triggering a chain of intrigue involving a jealous son, intrusive cops and a priest with a very unorthodox take on guilt and transgression.
