About Mother

When Kim Hye-ja’s nameless mother of the title discovers her 27 year old son has been arrested for murder, she obsessively sets out to track down the real killer and prove her son’s innocence in this gripping blend of thriller and melodrama from Oscar winner Bong Joon-ho.

Mother astands out in Bong’s filmography as a laser-focused character study—veteran actress Kim Hye-ja gives perhaps the performance of her career in this female fronted whodunit that shows the (violent?) lengths to which a mother will go to protect her son.

Screening as part of the Bad Mums: Motherhood In Cinema season to accompany the touring exhibition Acts Of Creation: On Art and Motherhood.
