Two women face each other in a dimly lit, industrial-style interior space. One person, wearing a purple/blue shirt with short dreadlocks, reaches out and touches the chest of the other, who has shoulder-length blonde hair and wears a dark blazer with a white scarf. The mood is tense and intimate. Wooden beams and a staircase are visible in the blurred background.

About Mother Mary

Mother Mary (Anne Hathaway), a returning pop icon approaching the beginning of her new tour, reunites with her long-lost best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm (Michaela Coel) when she needs a new dress for her grand comeback. However, this reconciliation brings with it repressed hurt and emotional scars that bubble up to the surface the night before the first performance.

David Lowery's (The Green Knight, A Ghost Story) latest is a psychosexual horror immersed in the world of pop queens and the music business. Appropriately, it features original songs from Jack Antonoff, Charli xcx and FKA twigs - who also stars - accompanying the score from frequent Lowery collaborator Daniel Hart.
