A woman with long blonde hair in her thirties sits at a table, staring into the eyes of an older bearded man who sits next to her, strumming a guitar. She holds her right leg up against her chest and smiles at him. In front of them are remnants of a finished meal and there is a bright yellow lamp behind them.

About The Ballad Of Wallis Island

The Ballad Of Wallis Island follows Charles (Tim Key), an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on a remote island and dreams of reuniting his favorite band, Mortimer-McGwyer (Carey Mulligan and Tom Basden). When he invites them to perform a private show on the idyllic Wallis Island, his fantasy becomes reality. But there’s a catch: Charles never mentioned to the band that they would be reuniting, and the ‘intimate’ gig he pitched turns out to be an exclusive gig...just for him.

A delightful reunion for longtime collaborators Tom Basden, Tim Key, and director James Griffiths (who first worked together on the 2007 short version of the film The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island), this feature brings a decades-long vision to life. With stunning views of the Welsh coastline, a mix of romance, music and plenty of laughs, Wallis Island is a quirky, heartwarming exploration of life, relationships and the transformative power of art.
