At an outdoor festival, a figure whose face, hair, and hands appear to be woven from wicker and straw holds a woman in a close dance embrace. She has short curly hair pinned back with a braided wicker coil, wears a gray gathered-sleeve blouse and striped skirt, and gazes up at him with a warm smile. Blurred in the background, a violinist plays, an older man looks on, and a seated man and a pregnant woman in a head covering watch from a table with food and flowers.

About Wicker

Fisherwoman is unmarried, allegedly smelly, constantly teased by her small-minded neighbours and desperate to keep to herself. But when she decides to see what life would be like with a very particular kind of mail-order husband, what arrives (a statuesque Alexander Skarsgård) soon sparks jealousy and creates chaos.

Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson’s wonderfully eccentric fable is, at its core, a gentle love story anchored by two wonderful performances from Colman and Skarsgård.
