About Anatomical Drawing (VA112 Autumn)

Learn how to tackle drawing the most difficult parts of human anatomy such as hands, feet and heads, and how to create human form successfully.

What you will learn on this course?

This 12-week course aims to give you a better understanding of how to draw human form and structural anatomy.

Each session will focus on difficult anatomical areas such as tackling hands, feet, heads and faces and you will have the opportunity to work directly from a life (nude) model for the final 6 weeks.

The tutor will introduce you to the correct way to see human structures including discussion of human anatomical make up, muscle and bone, to help deepen your understand and artistic expression. You will be introduced to the correct way to see the human structure and combine it into recognisable and realistic drawings.

Throughout the course, the tutor will provide context and inspiration by referring to great master drawings from Art History such as Caravaggio, Artemisia Gentileschi and more contemporary artists such as Augusta Savage.

By the end of the course, you will have gained new knowledge and improved your drawing skills.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for adults aged 18+ years at all levels. You do not need to have any previous painting experience as full instruction is provided.

At the heart of MAC is a focus on accessibility and inclusion. Please contact us to discuss your specific access needs. The room is wheelchair accessible. A support worker or carer may assist; carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending to provide support.

Do you need to bring anything?

The studio is equipped with easels and drawing boards. Paper is provided and basic art materials may be borrowed on the day. You may wish to bring your own sketchbook and additional materials to work with as the course progresses.

Are there any additional costs?

Any additional materials must be provided at your own expense.
