
About Creative Textiles Camp for Young People (CSC174)
Learn how to create a variety of textile pieces while developing a wide range of practical creative skills.
What will you learn on this course?
Welcome to the exciting world of textiles! Learn techniques such as printing, weaving and sewing and much more to create simple decorative pieces.
The camp will be delivered through a mix of tutor demonstrations and practical activities allowing you to create samples and build your techniques. Develop practical sewing skills for life allowing you to repair clothing, sew on a button or make gifts for friends and family.
You will have the opportunity to design and create simple project piece to take away at the end of camp.
The course provides a fun and creative environment which will encourage young people's creativity and discovery exploring the medium of textiles.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for children aged 12 to 17 years. It is open to all levels. Those with little or no experience of textiles will be shown demonstrations for the various techniques used, and those with previous experience will be able to self-direct their work with guidance from the tutor.
The course is accessible for young people of all abilities. You do need dexterity in your hands to work with textiles. The room is wheelchair accessible. A parent or companion may attend to assist; carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending to provide support. Please contact us to discuss your specific access needs.
Age ranges are set carefully to consider key age developments, materials being used, and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefor need to be adhered to.
