
About Digital Music Production for Young People (CSC175)
Do you have a passion for music, beats and sounds? Learn how to make digital music compositions and create your very own music track!
What will you learn on this course?
Led by a professional digital music artist, this 2-day short course is ideal for aspiring digital music producers or musicians interested in learning how to make music digitally. You will work with industry software to acquire the skills to successfully mix and produce music.
The course covers:
· What kinds of music can be made digitally
· How to use specialist music software such as Logic
· Creating basic beats and sounds from scratch
· Recording instruments and sounds
· How to use professional equipment including Digital Audio Workstations
Taught in our dedicated Media Studio, the tutor will guide the group through the entire process, from the initial generation of ideas to recording final tracks. By the end of the course you will have a finished music track to take away with you as an MP3 file.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for young people aged 12 – 17 years. It is open to all levels and no previous music experience is required as full instruction is given. If you do have some experience, the course will allow you to explore and learn new techniques to develop your skills further. We provide a learning support worker and all our staff are DBS checked. Parents are not expected to accompany children on the course.
The course is accessible for children of all abilities who can participate in practical art activities, and use a computer. The room is wheelchair accessible. A parent or carer may assist their child if required but must book a complimentary ticket if attending to provide support. Please contact us to discuss your specific access needs.
Age ranges are set carefully to consider key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.
Do you need to bring anything?
Please bring a 32GB memory stick or hard drive to save your work.
Please note that lunch is not provided. Children will need to bring their own lunch to eat on a supervised one-hour break.
