About Dress Your Toy for Winter (CSC267)

Design and create a costume for your favourite toy to keep them cosy in winter! Will you make a scarf for a doll, woolly hat for a tiger or cardigan for a dinosaur? Learn simple sewing and crafting techniques to create miniature outfits for your much-loved friends.

What will you learn on this course?

Participants will unleash their imagination and artistic talents as they design and craft a winter costume for their toy. This could include clothing, hats, capes, blankets and accessories.

They will be free to decide the basic shapes of their pieces - for which they'll have a range of different ideas and templates – and which materials work best to execute their design. Their work will involve creative patterns and lots of decorative elements, including beads and embellishments!

Crafting costumes involves cutting, gluing, hand sewing, building up textures and embellishment which will enhance fine motor skills and attention to detail. The children will use a variety of textiles, such as calico, felt, ribbons, wool and thread. As well as recycled materials, such as cardboard and also some wire for structure.

Children will finish the course with a number of items to take away, created in a fun, relaxed environment with other like-minded children.
