Immerse yourself into the art of studio recording in this comprehensive in-depth course designed for aspiring musicians and audio enthusiasts, as well as people wanting to get a glimpse of what working in a studio is really like.

What will you learn on this course?

This course is perfect for people looking to get more hands-on with their music and learn how to record in a genuine studio environment, working with industry-standard software and recording gear. By the end of the course, you will gain a better understanding of how to record analogue sounds into Logic Pro X or any other DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) using a mixing desk and how to digitally manipulate them. For people who already have experience in recording, this course will help expand their knowledge as well as reaffirm some basics concepts.

You will work with the latest iMacs and learn Logic Pro X software.

• A thorough explanation of audio effects
• A guitar recording bootcamp
• Working with a mixing desk and outboard audio processing gear
• Using microphones and other recording equipment
• Recording sound into Logic Pro X

• Creating a studio engineer kit
• Recording principles for different genres of music
• Learning how to automate
• Different recording techniques
• Recording different acoustic instruments
• Working with both analogue and digital signals.

• Challenging studio scenarios

Each week the tutor will set tasks and small projects designed to incorporate the new skills that you have learned, such as setting up a recording studio for a full-band recording from scratch, mixing different songs, and challenging studio routing puzzles.

Participants will leave understanding how music is created, assembled, and recorded and have a wider appreciation of specialist music software.

As well as 1-2-1 support, at the end of each lesson you will listen to everyone’s work and share feedback and comments.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for adults aged 18+ years.

This course is designed for both beginners and improvers, musicians with a good musical knowledge who would like an introduction to recording music digitally, and to confident musicians looking to improve their recording skills. Previous musical knowledge and experience is highly recommended. Full instruction and guidance is given.
