A colourful illustration of Matisse, cutting green paper

About Let's Make you an Artist: Matisse Collage (CSC263)

Inspired by her new children’s book, This Book Will Make You An Artist (Nosy Crow, 2024), art historian and author Ruth Millington presents a series of summer workshops delivered in partnership with MAC Artist Tutors.

What will you learn on this course?

Discover the work of vibrant visual artist Henri Matisse to create colourful collages inspired by his work. Known for his innovative use of colour we’ll learn more about this world-famous artist while creating our own pieces. Collage is a wonderfully accessible art form creating powerful new art images from existing materials, giving immediate results.

Combining fascinating art facts with the creativity and excitement of a craft session, this workshop will encourage children and their grown-up to take inspiration from great artists of the past.

Ruth Millington is a Birmingham based art historian, critic and writer. Buy a copy of her new book from the MAC shop for signing at the end of the workshop.
