About Pointy Plants Camp (CSC258)

Get inspired by the natural world to create a range of artistic work.

What you will learn on this course

During this course we will explore the Pauline Farrar exhibition 'Talking Points' and learn about the artists’ amazing use of plants. Pauline uses gardening as a creative and rejuvenating tool for wellbeing, important for adults and children alike.

We'll respond to the work with botanical illustration and sculpture in various media, creating our own miniature installations and even inventing games inspired by this playful artwork.

Learners will gain visual art, design and craft making skills in a range of 2D and 3D techniques, and will use a range of art equipment and materials to gain an understanding of creating art work through different methods including drawing, painting, printing and sculpture.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for children aged 6 to 11 years. It is open to all ability levels and does not require any previous experience. We provide a learning support worker and all our staff are DBS checked. Parents are not expected to accompany children on the course.

The course is accessible for children of all abilities who can participate in practical art and craft activities. A parent or carer may attend to assist the child if required; carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending to provide support. Please contact us to discuss your specific access needs. The room is wheelchair accessible.

Age ranges are set carefully to consider key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.

Do you need to bring anything?

All course material and equipment are provided. Children should dress appropriately as some visual art workshops can get a bit messy. We will also spend time outdoors therefore weather appropriate clothing will be required.

Please note that lunch is not provided. Children will need to bring their own lunch to eat on a supervised one-hour break.
