About Sewing and Dressmaking for Improvers (TE10 Spring)

Building on existing knowledge and skills, this course introduces advanced dressmaking techniques, which you can then put into practice when sewing a garment from a more advanced pattern.

What will you learn on this course?

This course will introduce participants to more advanced sewing techniques. The tutor will give step by step demonstrations and participants will be encouraged to sew independently with additional support as required. Having completed a series of samples participants will apply these new skills to make a garment of their choosing.
The course will cover:
·    Precision and accuracy when sewing
·    How to sew different collars & cuffs
·    Understand a variety of binding techniques

If there is time, plackets, zip fly and advanced pocket techniques may also be covered
On completion of this course, participants can expect to have produced a selection of samples with explanations to take home for future sewing projects.
Participants will also have sewn a finished garment, with a pattern adjusted to their size to use again. Participants will feel more confident about sewing clothing in the future.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for adults aged 18+ years. It is open to improvers who have previous experience of sewing and want to develop their skills further. We recommend attending one of our beginners’ courses first. Lessons will be adapted to the group.

Do you need to bring anything?

A selection of essential sewing equipment will be provided.
