About Spring Still Life (ASC112)

Celebrate the floral beauty of spring on this 2-day short course learning the basics of still life.

What will you learn on this course?

Explore the art of still life with a focus on spring flowers.

Your tutor will take you through ways to approach still life using different mediums such as pencil, charcoal, acrylics and much more. Working from a variety of arrangements provided by the tutor, you will gain skills in mark marking, perspective and scale, shadow, tone, textures and colour.

You will practice all of the skills and techniques you have learnt to bring different still life compositions to life and work with a variety of floral subject matter.

The course will take place in our Garden Studio, where you will be surrounded by beautiful scents and flowers that will certainly inspire your creative process! Perhaps take a walk in gorgeous Cannon Hill park during your lunch break for further inspiration.

You’ll finish with a number of works to take away and new skills in the art of still life.

This is a relaxed, calming course which allows you to explore techniques and skills which will give you the confidence to develop your work even further.

Who is this course for?

This course is for adults aged 18+ years. It is open to all levels including beginners who have no prior drawing experience, and improvers who are looking to refine their skills.

At the heart of MAC is a focus on accessibility and inclusion. Please contact us to discuss your specific access needs. The room is wheelchair accessible. A support worker or carer may assist; carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending to provide support.

Do you need to bring anything?

Basic art materials will be provided but you may wish to bring your own preferred equipment such as brushes.

Are there any additional costs?

Any additional materials must be provided at your own expense.
