Marina Stonelake

Marina has a BA in Ceramics and Glass and a Post Graduate Degree in Art Education. She is a practicing Industrial Ceramicist and qualified teacher with over 33 years’ experience. She has worked with students from a diverse range of backgrounds, ages and abilities to include KS3, GCSE, GNVQ, AS/A Level, AVCE Advanced Art and Design and Adult classes. In her experience she has led her own department of creative artists introducing post 16 Art and Design teaching to her workplace. She has also worked in industry as a Crystal Designer.  

She currently has her own Ceramic business creating slip cast ware from vintage Plaster moulds and plaster casts of her own work and custom-made ceramics. She has a diverse range of tastes in 3D Art but particularly loves designs from the Fantasy, Surreal, Steampunk and Gothic styles. Working in education, she is flexible and creative in her styles of teaching and developed her teaching styles to each students interests and needs, working in a wide range of genre in the visual arts and media with glass, metals, wood, paper mâché. In ceramics she has worked with varied techniques to include hand building, casting, throwing and surface decoration and produced resources to aid her students with their work. She works with a variety of clay bodies including earthenware, stoneware and Porcelain.  

She has enjoyed building confidence in all her students and sharing her experiences and is an enthusiastic tutor, and creates a welcoming, positive learning environment to be taught ceramics. She enjoys hearing about the products which have been created in her classes and cherished over the years. She aims to bring out the best qualities of every student regardless of ability, and pride in seeing students achieve their potential.
