A large lantern in the shape of an owl omits a yellow light - it's held up in front of a building and a crowd of people at night-time.

About Light Up Fest: Cannon Hill Park lantern procession

Get ready to brighten up the winter evening as we set off on MAC’s first magical lantern procession - transforming Cannon Hill Park into a glowing wonderland. Willow and paper lanterns will illuminate the sky, led by a glorious array of performers, musicians and community cast. Everyone is welcome.

Free refreshments available. Dress up warm!

This project is proudly delivered by Autin Dance Theatre, commissioned by Midlands Arts Centre and supported by Birmingham City Council. All lanterns will be tethered and biodegradable.

Want to get involved?

We’re hosting a series of lantern-making workshops at MAC every Tuesday, starting on Tue 24 September, where everyone is welcome - no experience needed. Join us at 1-4pm or 5-8pm to craft glowing lanterns from willow and paper and be a part of this spectacular celebration.
