About Birmingham Improv Festival: Workshop led by Pierpaolo Buzza

Impro 4 Losers

This workshop is for the improvisers who tend to get stuck in their head with thoughts like “my idea is stupid”, or “I don’t know what to do”, and are happy when they think “now I’m going to walk in and do this super mega original thing”. This is the Improv Winner mentality: fearing to fail, wanting to impress.

With this workshop, we will pick this apart and play with the opposite approach. Taking all the pressure off, walking in a scene when it needs us as opposed to when we have a good idea, bringing the tiniest of offers, or even nothing - and we will see how even the smallest contribution can eventually shine with beauty.

Pierpaolo Buzza

Pierpaolo is a professional improviser from Italy, currently based in Belgium, where he is the Artistic Director of Impro Brussels, Belgium’s largest English-speaking Improv school, and the Brussels Shuffle, Brussels’ new international anglophone Improv Festival.

In his nearly 20-years experience in scripted and unscripted theatre, he played and taught Improv in virtually every way, shape, or form. His storytelling, directing and writing background constantly helps him develop improv tools in areas like narrative, characters, and improvising in different styles. Over the years, he trained improvisers from their first years in the craft, to their professional formats, to mentoring them in becoming teachers themselves.
