About Birmingham Improv Festival: Workshop led by Carla Keen

(M)othering Women? Truckdrivers, CEOs and Bank Robbers

This is a workshop for people who self-identify as women or non-binary.

Women can be cast (or self-cast) in roles they don’t want to play; mothers, wives, nurses…rarely are they endowed as a CEO-philanthropist-surgeon. This workshop will deliberately create a space where women are encouraged to play whatever role they like, however they want to play it.

Participants will go away with some tools/tactics to change/transform a role they might have been endowed with into one that speaks to them.

Carla Keen

Carla can often be found in the basement of a fringe theatre making things up with The Ministry of Unplanned Occurrences, who have produced 16 different show formats in the last five years. If not in a theatre, they are probably in a board game café muttering words like ‘worker placement’. Like most people in theatre/comedy, she owns more than one pair of Lucy and Yaks dungarees.
