A large owl lantern with outstretched wings is carried through a crowd at Light Up Fest. The glowing paper lantern sculpture is held up by people using poles as spectators gather around.

About Light Up Fest: Lantern Workshop

Light Up Fest is a vibrant, community-driven celebration presented by Autin Dance Theatre, co-commissioned by Midlands Arts Centre and kindly sponsored by Eversheds Sutherland.

Gather for a magical winter celebration of creativity, community and light, culminating in a glowing lantern procession through Cannon Hill Park at dusk.

The light parade transforms the park into a spectacle of colour and light, as participants walk together carrying handmade lanterns created by local schools, community groups and workshop participants.

Want to make your own lantern before joining the parade?

On the day of the parade, you can take part in a creative workshop to make your own lantern. All lantern-making ticket holders are also invited to join the lantern procession which gathers from 4.30pm and sets off at 5.15pm.

Participants are welcome to stay longer if needed to complete their lantern
