About Spirit of Pakistan: Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal

For the first time ever, the world-renowned Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal and Group will perform in MAC’s Outdoor Theatre – a one-night-only experience of sacred music under the summer sky.

From the vibrant city of Faisalabad, Pakistan, Chahat Mahmood Ali stands as one of qawwali’s brightest young stars. At just 22 years old, he delivers performances described as “the finesse and expertise of a seasoned master” (Financial Times). Under the personal guidance of Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, his electrifying voice and deep musical heritage have taken him from local shrines to international stages.

Their mesmerising music has captivated audiences at major UK venues including Southbank Centre (London), CBSO Centre (Birmingham), Eid in the Square (Trafalgar Square), TRAMWAY (Glasgow), Bristol Beacon, Kings Place (London), The Curve (Leicester), and Contact Theatre (Manchester). Now, for the first time, experience their unique sound live and under the stars in the Outdoor Theatre.

Led by harmonium maestro Mahmood Ali, whose career includes collaborations with qawwali greats like Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Faiz Ali Faiz, the group combines powerful vocals, soaring melodies, and hypnotic rhythms to create an evening that’s spiritual, emotional, and unforgettable. Don’t miss this historic outdoor concert – a true celebration of Sufi music, soul, and tradition.

Doors open at 7.30pm, performance starts at 8pm.
