About TDE: Evan Parker
Evan Parker is one of the world's finest improvisers renowned for his solo performances; at this concert will play both solo and also accompanied by the Mark Sanders' Percussion Ensemble. The concert marks the launch of the 4CD box set of solo performances that has the title The Heraclitean Two-Step.
The philosopher Heraclitus says that all things give way and nothing remains and that you cannot step twice into the same river. Evan started to think about this statement when, having played what was one of his best solo performances at the Unitarian Chapel Warwick, he wondered whether to return to the venue to see what it was about it that led to this performance.

When I played at MAC last time I felt really comfortable with the space, the acoustics and the situation for the audience. Although designed as a dance studio, the gentle raked tiers of seating gave everyone a good view and the musicians had plenty of stage space and perhaps most importantly the acoustics allowed us to play unamplified. I had no hesitation in asking for a return visit – which chimes well with my current “Heraclitean Two Step” obsession and the river which cannot be stepped in twice.
