Four musicians stood in a line with their arms around each other. Behind them is a blue swirling background. There are two men in the middle and a woman on either side. The woman on the left is holding a bass clarinet and the man next to here is holding a saxophone.

About TDE: Monster: Joe McPhee & Maria Portugal

TDE Promotions is collaborating with London's prestigious Cafe OTO to bring this internationally renowned free jazz quartet to Birmingham and MAC. Monster features one of the greats of free jazz, Joe McPhee from the USA, now in his 80s, but still playing with great fire and energy. It's a great lineup with Susan Gartmayer, a bass clarinettist from Austria active in rock and free jazz, John Edwards, the hugely creative bass player from the UK, and the Brazilian drummer Maria Portugal. A unique event!

Joe McPhee | saxophone and voice
Susanna Gartmayer | bass clarinet
John Edwards | double bass
Mariá Portugal | drums and voice
