About The Why Event
The Why Event, created by Charmaine Quailey, began as a vision to give survivors of domestic abuse a voice through art.
What started as a small community project has grown into a powerful production blending music, spoken word, drama, and dance. Every performer in The Why Event is a survivor who has faced abuse and found healing and strength through creativity. Together, they share their real stories on stage, inspiring empathy, understanding, and hope. Sponsored by Care Never Sleeps Birmingham Ltd, The Why Event continues to challenge stigma and empower voices that once felt silenced.
The event aims to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and foster empathy around this sensitive issue. With real experiences brought to life through creativity, The Why Event takes audiences on an emotional, thought-provoking journey that inspires understanding and change.
Featuring special guest speaker and Victims’ Advocate Natalie Queiroz MBE.
