About Emmy Bridgwater and Birmingham Surrealists
This major exhibition celebrates Birmingham-born surrealist Emmy Bridgwater (1906–1999), revealing over sixty years of her emotionally charged practice. Featuring paintings, drawings, poetry and later collages, it highlights her pivotal yet overlooked role in British Surrealism and her connections to the Birmingham Surrealist Group, alongside work by contemporary women artists.
