About Made at MAC: Working with Metal
This exhibitioncelebrates the talents of students and tutors who work with metal in MAC’s 12-week creative courses.
A historically important craft and trade in Birmingham, metalworking is still used to create contemporary jewellery and stained-glass pieces.
Featuring over 70 pieces of work from 52 participants, and five of MAC’s talented Artist Tutors, the exhibition showcases the full breadth of metalwork produced in MAC’s studios. From delicate jewellery and silver spoons to soldered lead frames, explore the incredible range of work created in our studios.
The exhibition also highlights the significance of Birmingham Assay Office in supporting the jewellery trade and pays tribute to historical craftsman from local companies such as Hardman and Co.
MAC's exhibitions are generously supported by Arts Council England and players of People's Postcode Lottery. With thanks to Birmingham Assay Office and Birmingham Museums Trust for their support with a film accompanying the exhibition.
