About Many Stories: Figurative Painting by South Asian British Women Artists

Many Stories is the first major group exhibition of figurative painting by fifteen British and UK-based women artists from the South Asian diaspora. Intergenerational in scope, it brings together artists at different stages of their careers, from recent graduates to established practitioners.

At a time of renewed interest in figurative painting in Britain, the exhibition makes a timely intervention, addressing the continued under-representation of South Asian British women in the visual arts. Showcasing culturally hybrid approaches to landscape, portraiture, and painterly process,

Many Stories is accompanied by a public programme and catalogue. Conceived as MAC’s touring exhibition in partnership with Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, it is curated by Jai Chuhan, Jasmir Creed, Matt Price and MAC’s Roma Piotrowska.
