Expanding the Frame Marketing Intern

We are looking for a creative and innovative marketing intern to work on Expanding the Frame, starting in February 2025.

Expanding the Frame is MAC's three-year project that seeks to significantly improve access to cinema for disabled audiences in the West Midlands. It is supported by Film Hub Midlands.

MAC is delivering a programme of screenings and events to ensure that disabled people can experience film in an accessible environment, as well as seeing themselves reflected on screen.

Internship details

Purpose of the post
  • To support the overall aims and objectives of MAC’s Expanding the Frame (ETF) project, specifically in relation to marketing and audience development
  • To identify new audiences and develop relationships with relevant partner organisations and key community contacts to support engagement with the project
  • To support and deliver promotion for ETF programme and related events
  • To develop and deliver surveys for ETF attendees and analyse the resulting data with a view to informing future ways of working
Key responsibilities

To work with MAC's Marketing Team and Cinema Producer to actively support the main aims of ETF.

  • Researching new ways of reaching target audiences for the ETF programme – this could be through making connections with specific industry and community contacts, networks or collaborations or through identifying effective online platforms
  • To deliver appealing, high-quality marketing campaigns (in line with current best practice around accessibility) to increase the profile of ETF among relevant local and regional audiences, with the ultimate aim of measurably increasing audience engagement
  • To create promotional content for MAC’s website, social media and other digital channels in line with current best practice around accessibility
  • To create and deliver cinema audience surveys in appropriate formats, analysing the key findings of the surveys to guide and inform future strategy
  • To undertake any other duties that may be required from this post

Essential

  • A passion for the arts and a commitment to developing arts marketing experience
  • Experience of developing and delivering targeted marketing and audience development campaigns
  • An analytical approach to data and research
  • An ability to schedule, prioritise and complete work within deadlines
  • A positive approach to working flexibly both individually and as part of a busy team
  • A creative and innovative mind-set and approach to problem solving

Desirable

  • A good knowledge of the UK cinema sector and key organisations
  • Previous experience in a similar role or organisation
  • Strong attention to detail
