Green Futures: Empowering Young People Through Creativity

Green Futures, a bold MAC initiative designed to support young minds facing the climate crisis. Through free creative workshops and events, set against the natural beauty of Cannon Hill Park, we empower children to make sense of environmental challenges—with clear eyes and hopeful hearts.

Why It Matters—Now More Than Ever

  • A recent study found 9 out of 10 British children are worried about climate change, and over 70% fear its long-term effects on their lives

  • Among UK teens (ages 14–17), 55% believe they’ll face a tougher future than their parents, citing climate concerns among their top fears

  • For ages 7–14, 65% are scared of climate change, and nearly a third feel powerless and unsure how to help

These figures aren’t just numbers—they reveal deep eco-anxiety and a cry for meaningful connection to the planet.

How Green Futures Makes a Difference

With your support, we aim to reach 1,000 young people a year through:

  • Hands-on workshops exploring climate art, storytelling, eco-play, and more

  • Creative forest and den building in Cannon Hill Park, designed to reconnect children with nature

  • Peer showcases and festivals, such as MAC's 'Big Green Weekender', where children and young people present their work, build confidence, and feel heard

Your Impact—In Their Words

“I loved thinking about how things are made. I want to make sure that me and my family think more about where our things come from"
