"The Midlands Arts Centre is where it all began for me...

I had an empty pocket and a curious mind. The people who ran this place showed me I needed nothing more than that."

- Adrian Lester CBE (Birmingham-born actor, writer, and director)

When MAC first opened 60 years ago, it was called "The Midlands Arts Centre for Children and Young People." Every day since, enriching the lives of young people through the arts has been at the heart of what we do. With the incredible support of our audiences, we welcome thousands of children and their families to participate in creative activities that inspire, empower, and educate. However, there are children in our community who are unable to access these opportunities.

MAC's Every Child campaign gives free tickets, activities, and course places to young people who would not normally be able to participate at MAC. Right now, there are over 100,000 children living in poverty in Birmingham. Now, more than ever, young people need a safe space to build friendships and cultivate their passion. By December 2023, we aim to raise £10,000 to connect with 500 children in our community who really need us.

If you, like us, believe that every child deserves access to the arts regardless of their circumstances or background, please consider donating today. Just £10, or whatever you can contribute, could gift an opportunity for a child that transforms their life long into the future.
