Every Child

Nurturing Birmingham’s Next Generation

When MAC first opened in 1962, it was known as The Midlands Arts Centre for Children and Young People. Since then, our mission has been clear: to enrich the lives of young people through the transformative power of the arts. Every year, thousands of children and families walk through our doors to explore, create, and find their voice.

But right now, in Birmingham, the reality for far too many children is challenging. Over 100,000 children in our city live in poverty - that’s nearly 1 in 3 young people struggling with the barriers that make opportunities like the arts feel out of reach. For these children, the chance to express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others through creativity isn’t a given - it’s a lifeline that too often remains just beyond their grasp.

That’s why MAC’s Every Child campaign is so urgent. Through this initiative, we provide free tickets, workshops, and course places to young people facing the greatest challenges. Your support means these children don’t just watch from the sidelines - they step into a world of possibility where imagination fuels hope and resilience.

Right now, your donation could change a child’s life.

  • Just £10 can gift a child a place on a creative workshop that sparks confidence and joy

  • £15 would pay for one child to come to a magical theatre show

  • £25 would provide art materials or fund a whole session for a group of children who need it most

If you believe, like we do, that every child in Birmingham deserves access to the arts, regardless of their background or circumstances, please give today. Because when you invest in a child’s creativity, you’re planting the seeds for a stronger, brighter future - one brushstroke, one song, one story at a time.
